Nonwovens in daily life ----- filtration
Filtration is the third-largest market for nonwovens and the second-largest end-use market for durable nonwovens.

Nonwovens are ideal in filtration applications where strength of extremely high temperatures is required. They can be engineered precisely to meet exact specifications and stringent regulatory requirements for air filtration and liquid filtration.

The different uses of nonwoven are air filtration, automotive filtration, liquid filtration, and specialty filtration.

The advantages of using nonwoven in filtration are as follows:

  • Removal of a wide range of contaminants from water (bacteria, viruses, metals, minerals, etc.)
  • Uniform structure
  • Tear- and puncture-resistance
  • Chemical resistance
  • High retention capacities
  • High air permeability
  • Excellent abrasion resistance
  • Flame retardancy
  • Absorption of fats and oils
  • High level of flow capacity
  • High tensile strength

Nonwoven technologies used in filtration are as follows:

One of the fastest growing segments, nonwoven has evolved from simply replacing other forms of media, such as paper, cloth, glass, and carbon to becoming the media of choice for filtration, including the wide adoption of nanofiber layers and the use of sophisticated hybrid filter media.
